The President of the European Central Bank, Wim Duisenberg, said in testimony to the European Parliament's Economic and Monetary Affairs Committee on 18 December 2001 that there would no further cuts in the ECB's key lending rates as long as the bank can expect falling inflation and a recovery in the eurozone econmy in 2002.
