EU to step up pressure on US over Mideast

The 15 European Union Foreign Ministers, Javier Solana, High Representative for the EU's Common Foreign and Security Policy, and Chris Patten, European Commissioner for External Relations, met with Colin Powell, US Secretary of State, on 11 November 2001. There is growing frustration over the US administration's slow pace in formulating a Middle East strategy, and the feeling is that if anyone can formulate a strategy it will be Mr Powell, providing he obtains backing from US President, George W. Bush.
