The European Commission reached the conclusion that, following the latest changes in Italenergia's shareholder structure, FIAT has acquired control over Italenergia and therefore over Montedison. The Commission announced on 23 July 2001 that this would constitute a concentration of Community dimension, which must be notified to the European Commission. |
