Taxation and Customs Commissioner Algirdas Šemeta sent a letter to the Russian Customs chief on 25 July 2013, asking Russia to reconsider a measure to introduce additional controls on road cargo. The Russian authorities planned to introduce the measure on 14 August. The Commissioner warned that the move could lead to serious disruptions in EU-Russia trade, and would be in breach of the TIR Convention. |
