The outbreak of foot-and-mouth disease worsened 25.2.01 with the discovery of infected cattle at a Devon farm that exports sheep to continental Europe. The possibility that Britain may have exported the disease to other EU countries will concern agriculture ministers, due to meet in Brussels 26.2.01 to discuss the BSE crisis.
