Michel Barnier, European Commissioner for Regional Policy, visited Latvia, Estonia and Lithuania from 16-19 July 2001, meeting with the prime ministers of those countries, together with the ministers for foreign affairs and the ministers responsible for overseeing Community pre-accession aid programmes. Discussions focused on management of pre-accession aid programmes and the ISPA programme in particular, preparation for accession in the area of regional policy and the future of the Union debate.
