In May 2001 the French Ministry of the Interior hosted a conference launching a new €3 million Phare project to support the central European candidate countries in adopting and implementing the body of the European Union law in the field of migration, visa and external border control management. Co-operation in this area is an important part of the EU's agenda for the creation of an area of freedom, security and justice. |
