Press Release: ‘Television without frontiers’: effective regulation for the European audiovisual sector

On 16.1.01, the Commission adopted its third report on application of the 'Television Without Frontiers' Directive. This describes and discusses the main developments between 1997 and 2000 and shows that the Directive has proved well suited to the changing audiovisual scene in Europe. The Directive may be reviewed at the end of 2002. The current report therefore does not suggest any changes but is a first step towards a possible review process.
