The data on social protection expenditure and receipts contained in this publication are drawn up according to the European system of integrated social protection statistics (Esspros). Data relate to the 15 Member States of the European Union, Iceland, Norway and Switzerland. Expenditure is broken down into social benefits, administration costs and other expenditure.
