The Weimar Triangle was established on 29 August 1991 by a joint declaration issued in Weimar by the Foreign Ministers of Germany, Poland and France. It was intended to bear witness to the successful reconciliation process that had brought Germany closer to its two largest immediate neighbours to the west and east after the horrors of the Second World War. The three partners have held regular consultations on European and foreign policy matters since then.
