European liberals will choose their candidate for the European Commission presidency depending on how fast they want to build Europe, said Graham Watson, president of the Alliance of Liberals and Democrats for Europe in an interview with EurActiv ahead of the party's congress, which opened in London on the 29 November 2013.

Gathering in London for the three-day Congress to set the tone for the European election campaign, European liberal democrats have promised to crusade against the "cheap" populists and stand up for a united Europe, with the UK ‘in’.
