Article reports that Poland is confident it will be able to present acceptable restructuring plans for three ailing shipyards in time to meet the European Commission’s 12 September 2008 deadline. Treasury Minister Aleksander Grad said 4 September 2008 that the government has reached an agreement with investors on the privatisation of Polish shipyards.

On the 12 September 2007 tThe European Commission confirmed that it received from the Polish authorities a revised restructuring plan for Szczecin shipyard and a revised joint restructuring plan for Gdynia and Gdansk shipyards. The Commission would then analyse the plans carefully over the following weeks to assess the compatibility of the plans with the requirements of EC Treaty state aid rules. The Commission opened the formal investigation into state aid for the Polish shipyards in June 2005.
