EUObserver reported in May 2011 that the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugolsovaia (ICTY) international tribunal in The Hague was planning to tell the UN that Serbia's efforts to catch top war crimes fugitives 'have not been sufficient', destroying its chance of getting EU candidate status later in 2011. The latest report by Serge Brammertz, the chief prosecutor in the International Criminal Tribunal for the Former Yugoslavia (ICTY) - seen by EUObserver - painted a damning picture of Serbia's co-operation in the hunt for Goran Hadzic and Ratko Mladic. Serbian authorities arrested Goran Hadzic, the last remaining fugitive war crimes suspect sought by the UN tribunal for the former Yugoslavia in July 2011. EurActiv reported on the 22 July 2011 that Croatia had joined The Hague tribunal in demanding the extradition of Goran Hadžić. |
