Ukrainian Opposition activist Dmytro Bulatov, who had gone missing on the 22 January 2014, was found outside Kiev on the 31 January 2014 saying he had been kidnapped and tortured. Opposition leader Vitali Klitschko said that what happened to Mr Dmytro was an act of intimidation to all the protesters, after visiting the activist at a Kiyv hospital. The Ukrainian government bowed to intense western pressure on the 2 February 2014 and let an opposition activist fly abroad to Lithuania for treatment. Ukrainian President Viktor Yanukovych returned to work on the 3 February 2014 after four days of illness, with protesters still demanding he give up power. BBC News and other sources reported on the 4 February 2014 that Ukraine's opposition MPs had called for constitutional changes that would give parliament greater control over the formation of governments. |
