Several media reports announced on the 22 September 2014 that Turkey had begun to close some of its border crossings with Syria after about 130,000 Kurdish refugees entered the country over the previous weekend. Euro|Topics reported on the 23 September 2014 that the US had started carrying out airstrikes on IS locations in Northern Syria on the 22 September 2014. According to US media, five Arab states were also taking part in the mission. Finally the international community was taking action, some commentators wrote approvingly. Others warned that religious tolerance and more willingness to take in refugees would be a better response to the IS. Media sources also reported on Turkish government's intention to introduce legislation in parliament that would allow a possible deployment of the army in neighboring Syria. |
