The battle over the rebuilding of the central train station in Stuttgart, Germany, escalated significantly in the autumn of 2010. Germab Chancellor Angela Merkel pushed strongly for the project in September 2010, and the harsh response by police to protesters on the 1 October 2010 could come back to haunt the German Chancellor and the CDU.
