Ukraine should not be used as a pawn in Western cooperation with Russia in fighting the so-called Islamic State.

The terrorist attacks in Paris on 13 November 2015 and the unremitting flow of refugees to Europe has affected the dynamic of relations between some EU Member States such as France and Germany and Russia. As a results, as a decision upon continuing sanctions against Russia is looming, EU leaders have to decide if they are going to trade off the future of Ukraine for cooperation with Russia. Such a move would undo everything the EU has tried to achieve since the beginning of the Ukraine crisis in November 2013.
