On 14 July 2015, the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) between Iran, the P5+1 and the EU was announced. Over two years later, following US President Donald Trump's decision in October 2017 to decertify the Iran nuclear deal, two diplomats at the heart of the negotiations with Iran - John Kerry and Catherine Ashton - reflected on the effectiveness of the JCPOA thus far and assessed the adherence to its terms by all signatory countries. John Kerry was Secretary of State, United States (2013-17) and Baroness Ashton of Upholland GCMG PC, was High Representative of the Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy (2009-14). |
