Systemic Shame: Germany’s Woeful Asylum Infrastructure

Major feature. Horrific images from a German asylum home have recently focused attention on the country's broken system for sheltering refugees. Political failures and climbing numbers have resulted in chaos - and even the use of right-wing extremists as guards.

Deutsche Welle reported on the 6 October 2014 that prosecutors in Germany had raided offices of European Healthcare as part of an investigation into alleged abuse at centres for asylum seekers. At least 11 guards had so far been implicated in attacks on refugees in one German state.
