On the 28 July 2016, a statement was made by Federica Mogherini, the High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy and Vice-President of the European Commission, and Christos Stylianides, Commissioner for Humanitarian aid and Crisis management, on the humanitarian situation in Aleppo, Syria. As the last remaining supply route had been closed recently, thousands of people had been cut off from the delivery of medicine, food and water, which may result in the largest humanitarian tragedy of this conflict. |
