A right-wing extremist Marian Kotleba was elected regional governor (Župan) of Banska Bystrica in central Slovakia in the second round of regional elections on the 23 November 2013.

Mr Kotleba was a former leader of a banned far-right organisation and now led the ultra-nationalist Our Slovakia party.
