On the 15 and 16 July 2014, European Parliament President Martin Schulz shared some thoughts on the new commissioners hearings to be undertaken by the MEPs after their nomination by national governments.

The head of the European Parliament said that the "radically anti-European" views of Jonathan Hill, British premier David Cameron's nominee for the European Commission, might prevent him getting onto the EU's executive body.
