Bidders were scrambling to keep alive their hopes of buying Saab Automobile o the 7 January 2010 as the General Motors board prepared to meet on the 8 January 2010 to consider the Swedish carmaker’s fate. Spyker Cars, the Dutch boutique sports car maker, was poised to lodge a revised offer and three other potential bidders were racing to assemble last-ditch proposals. But people close to negotiations were pessimistic about the prospects of a deal after Ed Whitacre, GM chief executive, said on the 6 January 2010 that the group expected to start winding down the group soon. BBC News also reported that Formula One boss Bernie Ecclestone was part of a bid to buy Saab. |
