Russia Mistral: Hollande denies striking compensation deal

France's president François Hollande denied on 31 July 2015 that any agreement had been yet reached with Russian authorities regarding the Mistral warships contract which stalled following the implementation of sanctions to Russia.

Earlier media reports suggested a compensation deal had been reached in exchange of the cancellation of the contract which would allow Russia to acquire warships from France.
