Russia and China began the construction of a new gas pipeline linking the countries, with a ceremony in the Siberian city of Yakutsk.

China’s CNPC (China National Petroleum Corporation) had agreed to a huge $400 billion (£237 billion) contract with Gazprom in May 2014.
