Romania's Deputy Prime Minister Liviu Dragnea has been charged by anti-corruption prosecutors with trying to rig a referendum that failed to oust President Traian Băsescu in 2012.

EUObserver further reported that also Economy minister Varujan Vosganian resigned over a disputed natural gas deal - the latest in a series of high-level corruption cases, according to the website.
