Roma issue sparks Franco-German row

At the European Council in Brussels on the 16 September 2010, French President Nicolas Sarkozy shattered the EU's agenda by defending France's deportation of Roma and claiming Germany was about to do the same. German Chancellor Angela Merkel's office issued a firm rebuttal.
