On the 14 March 2014, the European Union at the Transport, Telecommunications and Energy Council meeting, following the the result of the amendments to the regulation No 539/2001 which the Council approved, decided that the Citizens of the Republic of Moldova possessing biometric passports will be able to travel to and throughout the Schengen area without a visa. The European Parliament gave its green light to the amendments on 27 February 2014. |
