The Council of the European Union decided on the 9 October 2014 to declassify the negotiating directives for a transatlantic trade and investment partnership (TTIP) with the United States.

The European Ombudsman, Emily O'Reilly, welcomed the decision. She had opened an investigation in July 2014, explaining why the Council should release the document.
