Press Release: Transforming Europe’s energy system – Commission’s energy summer package leads the way

The European Commission present on 15 July 2015 a package of proposals aimed at delivering a new deal for energy consumers by launching a redesign of the European electricity market, updating energy efficiency labelling and revising the European Union's Emissions Trading System.

The package is part of the efforts to implement the Energy Union strategy, launched as one of the political priorities of the EC in February 2015. The specific proposals of the package give prominence to the 'energy efficiency first' principle and put households and business consumers at the centre of the European energy market.
