Press Release: The Council adopts general fishing opportunities for 2014

On 20 January 2014 the Council adopted by written procedure a regulation providing fishing opportunities in 2014 to EU vessels in Union and certain non-Union waters. A political agreement had been reached on this regulation at the Agriculture and Fisheries Council meeting on 17 December 2013. The regulation established the total allowable catches (TACs) and member states' fishing quotas for 2014 for fish stocks which are not subject to international negotiations or agreements and stocks subject to international negotiations or agreements.
