The Council of the European Union decided to appeal against a ruling from the EU's General Court that the Palestinian Islamist group Hamas should be removed from the bloc's terrorist list. The High Representative of the European Union for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Federica Mogherini, stated so on 19 January 2015. Susanne Kiefer, a spokesperson for the European Council, clarified in March 2015 that Hamas would stay on the terror list during the appeal process, which should take around a year and a half. |
