Following an invitation by the authorities of the Republic of Madagascar, the European Union deployed a mission to observe the presidential elections. The first round was scheduled for 25 October 2013. The European Union Election Observation Mission (EU EOM) was led by Ms. Maria Muñiz de Urquiza, Member of the European Parliament, who arrived in Antananarivo on 2 October 2013 and officially launched the mission during a press conference on 3 October 2013. |
