The European Data Protection Supervisor (EDPS) sent on 27 July 2015 his recommendations to the co-legislators regarding the draft rules of the Data Protection Regulation (DPR).

The DPR started being subject of trilogue negotiations between the European Commission, the European Parliament and the Council of the European Union in June 2015. These recommendations were therefore constrained by these negotiations.

The EDPS considered the existence of such regulation of vital importance, focusing on dynamic safeguards to allow the individual to be in control of their data in the big data world.
