Press Release: MEPs concerned about democracy and fundamental rights in Turkey

The European Parliament urged Turkey to put its reform process at the centre of domestic policy choices and to commit 'unequivocally' to democratic rules and principles, which are at the heart of the European Union, according to a resolution adopted on 10 June 2015.

The text, concerning the progress of reforms in 2014, calls for Turkey to respect media freedom, free expression and judicial independence. It also welcomes the parliamentary election which took place on 7 June 2015.
