The European Parliament's transport committee approved a report on the use of drones by civilians. The text called for new rules to boost the development of Europe's drone sector without imposing overtly complicated regulation that would deter investment. According to the transport committee drones should be able to detect aircraft using the same airspace, ensuring that there is no risk to the safety of manned aircraft. In addition committtee members believed densely-populated areas, no-fly zones, such as airports, power plants, nuclear and chemical plants, and other critical infrastructure, should be taken into consideration. The resolution was scheduled to be voted by the parliament in plenary in October 2015. |
