As foreseen in its 2015 Work Programme, on 01 July 2015 the European Commission decided to withdraw two legislative proposals on which the co-legislators had not been able to find a timely political agreement, and to replace them with new initiatives in the 2016 Work Programme. It was concluded that there was no prospect of progress on the Maternity Leave and the Earth Observation Satellite directives. The decision was to be formalised in the Official Journal of the European Union in due course. The Commission also confirmed that it would continue to work with the Council of the EU and the European Parliament for an agreement on a third proposal on organic production and labelling of organic products, where political discussions had advanced significantly. |
