Press Release: European Semester 2016: Commission reminds Member States of fiscal obligations

As part of the European Semester and following up on its recent winter economic forecast, the European Commission on 9 March 2016 reminded Member States of the need to take measures necessary to meet their obligations under the Stability and Growth Pact (SGP).

For Spain, the reminder took the form of an Autonomous Commission Recommendation (ACR), as the country was subject to the Excessive Deficit Procedure (EDP). The Commission also notified Belgium, Croatia, Finland, Italy and Romania of its concerns regarding those countries' compliance with their fiscal obligations.
