Reports of the United Nations Climate Change Conference, Warsaw, 11-22 November 2013 (COP 19 / CMP 9) At the UN climate change conference on 11-22 November 2013 in Warsaw, the European Union sought a balanced package of decisions to advance international climate action. The decisions needed to enhance the implementation of climate measures already agreed, advance work on deepening cuts in global greenhouse gas emissions before 2020 and prepare the ground for the adoption by 2015 of a new legally-binding global climate agreement containing emission commitments by all countries. On the 20 November 2013, a new $280m (€208m) initiative to help save the world's remaining forests was launched by the UK, the US and Norway at the United Nations climate change talks in Warsaw. Negotiators from around 190 countries met to try to advance steps towards a global climate agreement. |
