The European Parliament's plenary session backed on 16 December 2015 a resolution spelling out the legal steps needed to improve corporate tax transparency, coordination and EU-wide policy convergence. The chamber's drive to persuade member states to act to counter aggressive corporate tax planning and evasion by multinationals in the European Union was triggered by the November 2014 'Luxleaks' revelations about Luxembourg’s dubious tax deals with them. The recommended legal steps are a result of the work of the parliament's special committee on tax rulings, whose recommendations had been approved on 26 November. |
