Press Release: EP backs deal on better information, advice and protection for insurance buyers

The European Parliament approved on 24 November 2015 update rules on the information and advice provided by insurance sales staff. The draft law aims at making it easier and safer to buy insurance products.

The proposal to amend rules regarding sales of insurance were made so it included similar information and consumer protection requirements for all insurance distribution channels unless they meet to conditions for exemption.

The Council of the European Union still needed to officially adopt the draft law before it became necessary for member states to incorporate the legislation.
