At the Foreign Affairs Council meeting, taking place in Brussels on 20 January 2014, the Council of the European Union adopted conclusions on the Central African Republic. The Council reached political agreement on a future CSDP military operation in the CAR and, to that end, approved the Crisis Management Concept. The operation will provide temporary support, for a period of up to six months, to help to achieve a secure environment in the Bangui area, with a view to handing over to the African Union. The EUFOR operation must be based on a United Nations Security Council resolution. |
