Press Release: Council conclusions on the Central African Republic

On 10 February 2014, the Council of the European Union at the Foreign Affairs Council meeting in Brussels, adopted conclusions on the Central African Republic. At this meeting, the Council established an EU military operation to contribute to a secure environment in the Central African Republic, as authorised by the UN Security Council. This decision creates the legal basis for the operation entitled EUFOR RCA and is another step towards its rapid deployment.

On the 25 February 2014, France voted to extend its CAR mission, as violence escalated in the African country.
