On 14 April 2014, at the Agriculture and Fisheries Council meeting that took place in Luxembourg, the Council of the European Union approved amendments to EU rules for the insurance industry in respect of the powers of two EU-level supervisory authorities. The amendments, introduced via the so-called Omnibus 2 directive, include the provision of specific tasks for European Insurance and Occupational Pensions Authority (EIOPA) and the European Securities and Markets Authority (ESMA). |
