The Council of the European Union adopted on the 29 September 2014 a directive on building up minimum infrastructure for alternative fuels across the EU.

Final adoption of the legislative act on the 29 September 2014 by the Council of the European Union followed an agreement reached at first reading with the European Parliament earlier in 2014.

The directive would enter into force 20 days after its publication in the EU Official Journal, which was expected to take place within the following few days.
