The European Parliament's environment and agriculture committees voted on 17 June 2015 on amended draft laws regarding a ban on cloning farm animals, their descendants and products derived from them, including imports.

The members of these committes beefed up the European Commission’s initial proposal, citing high mortality rates at all development stages of cloning and EU citizens’ animal welfare and ethical concerns.

The amendments were scheduled to be vote in plenary in September 2015.
