President Recep Tayyip Erdogan hails new era for Turkey / Erdogan wins Turkish presidential election, vows reconciliation

The incumbent Prime Minister of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan won the first presidential election held in the country on the 10 August 2014. By winning 52% of the popular vote he avoided the need for a second run-off election.

Mr Erdogan was due to be officially inaugurated as President on the 28 August 2014.
