Position on the proposed package regarding the mid-term review of the 2014-2020 Multiannual Financial Framework

The European Parliament's plenary session outlined on 26 October 2016 its position regarding the European Commission's draft proposal on the mid-term review of the European Union's multiannual financial framework.

Members of the Parliament defended the need to update the long-term financial plan to cope with unforeseen crises, while acknowledging that the Commission’s proposal genuinely responds to requests in Parliament’s negotiating stance, adopted in July.

The Council of the European Union still needed to adopt its own position on the draft proposal before it could engage in negotiations with the Parliament.
