Hungary's prime minister visited Russia on 17 February 2016 and met with the country's president Vladimir Putin.

Mr Órban said that it was in Hungary’s interest to see a normalisation of European-Russian relations. He added that it was unlikely the sanctions from the European Union against Russia would be extended in mid-2016.

Mr Putin highlighted that the trade volume had decreased throughout the year. Both leaders also discussed the Paks nuclear station.
