Greece’s centre-left party PASOK was set to take its turn in a final attempt at coalition-building on the 10 May 2012 after failing to reach common ground in talks with the radical leftwing Syriza party. As the political stalemate in Athens continued for a third day after the inconclusive general election on the 6 May 2012, Germany ramped up the pressure on any new Greek government to honour the terms of its bailout, warning it could otherwise be forced to pull out of the eurozone. A fresh election to take place in June 2012 was expected. |
